I woke up this morning with a heart piercing song. Insensatez. I had been studying the English/Portuguese translations last night. The sentiment of the English translation is somewhat different - cooler head, harder - lacking the Brazilian apaixonado of the original lyrics.
The Brazilian has much more saudade, deep longing and deep potentially unrequited forgiveness. It's always hard to translate the deep feeling of saudade, piercing through time and heart. Anyway, this morning I found this great video putting the music to La Notte. Brace yourself for emotionally crushing.
OK, enough of Se eu nao tenho meu amor, eu tenho minha dor.
This blog is all about the things I love. Thing that fire the flames of my passion and love! Let's get to it. Bring out the Electric Light Orchestra! Here, imbibe one of my favorites!
Such a great song, especially playing in my convertible as I drive my beloved Los Angeles pavement. I love the orchestral arrangements, the lyric word play. Utterly gorgeous. Soothing. Inspiring. I can listen to ELO for hours - and I have. Earlier this year as I drove these LA streets, I'd listen to ELO and dream of a younger Jeff Lynne.
Which brings me to this morning. Coffee and Music. Two things I love love love.
I've recently switched back to a favorite bean: Peet's Arabian Moka Java. This morning's cup was especially smooth with a slight chocolate undertone. I made myself a cup, pulled the Insenstiz arrows out of my heart and put on the Orchestra.
Here in this place, my living room, with so many things I love: my purple couch, my pinball machine, my dog, favorite music playing, drinking favorite coffee. The day ready to unfold. Thank you Jeff Lynne!
Sun is shinin' in the sky
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin' ev'rybody's in a play
