I got a Zeo for my birthday and I absolutely love it. I've been having a lot of fun learning how to use and gather data on my own sleep schedules. I'll write a long review post soon, but I wanted to share something I learned about stress and sleep.
The two highest ZQ scores I got (104 and 106) were the nights of days I was completely stressed out. I got my highest one last night after a fairly difficult/stressful day. My stress ranges from work (I'm a workaholic), eating too much sugar/coffee, emotional, etc. Yesterday had a bunch of those.
I've been working to release our next product and the bugs have been troublesome. Then there was some other somewhat stressful work news. Then I ate too many cupcakes. Later I had a drink with a friend where we talked about some pretty deep things, and by the time I got home, I was delirious and unable to make a decision on where to go for dinner. It was the deadline for an art grant, which I decided to try for 1 day prior and had to create a brand spanking new artistic CV in 24 hours. Yeah, I like pressure.
They boyfriend crammed some food into me, gave me a massage and I was in bed by 10pm. I was in deep sleep 20 minutes later and awoke to chimes and a 106 ZQ about 7:30am this morning. I feel like a million bucks and ready to take on the day. (I've actually been taking it on for several hours already.)
So I know for certain, when I am stressed, the best way to deal with it - get 9+ hours of sleep.
I'm a big proponent of sleep and I hate getting less than 7 1/2. I know that's not always possible, but if you're dying of stress and you need a break, go to bed early. Your body knows how to take care of itself if you just give it the time.
