Up on the
desert mountain I decided to point my laser beam focus to a new direction. Part
of exploring satisfaction and what it means to live, to have, a satisfied life
and yet still have projects and goals and passions and unfinished business. Up
there, surrounded by the wind one word came to me: Luxury.
I don't allow myself to have much luxury and at the same time I revel in luxury in some other ways. I realized that I don't have a great understanding of the word. I see it only as spending a lot of money at the W hotel. Or getting a decadent massage. But luxury is also taking a breath of fresh clean air - no strings attached. So to bring a sense of awareness to the word and experience I've started asking myself, how can this be luxurious? What can I do to bring luxury into this experience?
Sometimes it's just feeling my feet on the earth and paying attention to walking. Sometimes it's taking that breath. And sometimes it's paying $50 to add 5 inches of legroom on the 6 hour transcoastal flight. Luxury doesn't have to be big extravagant splurges. Mostly it's a relaxing of the rigidity of my worldview and feeling and being in the world.
