Hi there! Susan Kitchens here. Of greater LA area (Monrovia). I attended the Getting Deeply Geeky session, and I write to respond to ynt about geekdom in LA, and about BarCamp LA (? right name? can't remember. Anyway, I couldn't/didn't go) and about your occasional geeky dinner gatherings, but I am very interested in finding out more about the geeky dinner gatherings.
(geek cred is of the self-taught variety: from graphic design to tech writing and web design, I hang in HTML, CSS, and occasionally in PHP.)
In addition to the linked blog you see here, I have another site, Family Oral History Using Digital Tools. I just posted a digital story there where I interviewed my mother about her mother -- grandma graduated from MIT in 1920 and my Mom reflects on her mother helping her classmates learn calculus.
Hey Susan, it was great to meet you a blogher too! I'll have to check out the family history site - I love the idea. As far as the geek dinners... go check them out over here: http://barcamp.org/BarCampLosAngeles
Heather, thanks for both coming by my site and posting a response here. So it's the 3rd Tuesday of the month, eh? In the last month I've discovered two other events that meet on the 3rd Tuesday. Dang. decisions, decisions. Maybe I'll be swinging by once a quarter. To each of 'em.

oops. keyboard jumpage garbled something from above:
respond to ynt about geekdom = respond to your comment about geekdom.
Also, the site address for the other site I mentioned is http://familyoralhistory.us/
