A friend and I went to Panamint Valley last weekend and had an adventure - beyond the truck breakdown adventure. We went with a specific intent to make contact with one of the apprentices of Carlos Castanda: Nuri Alexander. I had never met Nuri, although my colleague had. I didn't have a connection with her, nor do I practice guru/teacher adulation. I've come to realize that we're all human beings here.
So we were not searching for a guru or a disciple of a guru. We decided to do this mission because we wanted to see what would happen, what we would find. _If_ we _could_ contact her. _If_ we could find the place she jumped from. And _if_ we succeeded, ask her some questions. We had focused intent, we did not want to fail, yet we understood the difficulty of our task at hand.
I was completely willing to accept not finding anything - just another adventure in Death Valley. But what we did end up experiencing is what anyone would expect when they throw themselves into an adventure with abandon, passion, energy and intention.
You can read about it in this post on Daily Mantra - which is where I try to do my metaphysical writing these days.
