In 1996 on this day in Cedar Falls, Iowa, I got married to my high school sweetheart, whom I met in art class when I was 17. (I still remember our first conversation.) Not the legal binding marriage (that came 8 months later on Feb 14, 1997 in Marin County), but the commitment was made. I moved out of my dream house in Berkeley with my favorite cat, all my playthings and stuff on September 22, 2003. The day after throwing his biggest birthday party yet and 10 year anniversary for his publishing company. We didn't know I wasn't going to move back in. I'm still waiting for the paperwork from the SF courts, but as far as I'm concerned, I've been single for a good solid year.

Pour yourself a large scotch. You've earned it. When the paperwork finally arrives, pour yourself another one. And why the heck do they take so long to get the paperwork finished?
